Let me be absolutely clear: I unequivocally and forcefully condemn this cowardly attempt to assassinate the President. Again.

There is no place in our nation for political violence. None. Not now. Not ever.

Those who carry out or justify these kinds of acts stand in direct opposition to the very foundation of our Republic. They are the true threat to our democracy.

In a moment that could have turned even more tragic, our law enforcement officers acted exactly as we expect the very best among us to act, with speed, precision, and courage.

We owe them our gratitude.

We are deeply grateful for the swift, decisive, and courageous actions of our law enforcement officers, whose professionalism and bravery prevented an even greater tragedy. We are also keeping the wounded Secret Service agent in our thoughts and prayers, and we stand in hope for a full and swift recovery.

Their actions made the difference.

This Is a Moment for Clarity

Now is not the time for silence or ambiguity.

This is a moment that demands absolute clarity from every one of us: violence against our leaders, our institutions, or our fellow Americans must be rejected. Full stop.

We can disagree. We can debate. That’s part of who we are as a nation.

But violence is never acceptable.

At a time when division seems to be everywhere, we have a responsibility to rise above it.

We must stand united, not divided, in defense of our country, our Constitution, and the rule of law.
