The Tuolumne County Republican Central Committee unequivocally condemns the hand-painted wooden sign near Parrotts Ferry Road depicting America being “shanked in the neck” and blaming the Democratic Party. This violent imagery is unacceptable and has no place in responsible political debate. TCRCC rejects this message.
We are also aware of candidate signs being vandalized throughout Columbia.
Let us be equally clear: We condemn ALL graffiti, vandalism, theft, and unauthorized destruction or removal of campaign signs—regardless of the candidate, party, or political viewpoint.
California Penal Code § 594 prohibits maliciously defacing, damaging, or destroying another person’s property. Stealing campaign signs can constitute theft under California Penal Code § 484. These acts can result in criminal charges.
Disagreement with a candidate or a sign’s message does not give anyone permission to damage or steal property. This standard applies to everyone, including supporters of our own party.
We urge anyone witnessing suspected vandalism or theft to document it safely and report it to law enforcement. Refer concerns about sign placement to the appropriate authorities. Do not retaliate or take matters into your own hands.
Tuolumne County deserves better. Debate the issues. Respect property. Reject violent rhetoric. There are no partisan exceptions.
